Only 9th 10th students to be covered under prematric scholarship scheme

Previously, the pre-matric scholarship covered education for students in grades 1 through 8, as well as those from the SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities.
Despite claiming that RTE includes compulsory education up to the eighth grade for all pupils, the government has now confined its pre-matric scholarship plan for backward and minority groups to kids in the ninth and tenth grades.
Previously, the pre-matric scholarship covered education for students in grades 1 through 8, as well as those from the SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities.
The government explained its decision in a notice, stating that the Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009 requires the government to offer free and compulsory primary education (classes I through VIII) to all children.
"As a result, only students in classes IX and X are eligible for the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment's and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs' Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme.
