JEE Main students will only have two chances instead of four this year

February 17, 2022

The National Testing Agency (NTA) decided to conduct the entrance test only in April and May this year, instead of four this year. This will mean that engineering course students will have two opportunities to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Main). From 2021 onwards, the ministry of education decided to increase the number of attempts to four.

As Based on initial discussions between officials of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, the National Eligibility Completion Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET-UG will be held between the third week of June and the first week of July. In 2021, 26 lakh engineering, medical, and allied programme students took these tests.

For admission to top engineering institutions as well as eligibility to appear for the JEE (Advanced), the entrance test for Indian Institutes of Technology, students take JEE (Main), the computer-based, multi-session test.

From 2019 to 2021, students were allowed to attempt two exams instead of one, and some results indicate a significant advantage from multiple attempts at a high-pressure test. The best score from the four attempts was considered the candidate's final score in 2021.
