12 New Scholarships in Banaras Hindu University

12 new scholarships have been established by Banaras Hindu University for students in a variety of programmes. The family of one of the university's graduates donated Rs 60 lakh to launch these scholarships. The wife of businessman Dhinanath Jhunjhunwala, Kishori Jhunjhunwala, donated the contribution through the university's Pratidana project. On June 24, 2023, they presented Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain with the donation checks.

For the establishment of 10 scholarships of Rs 25,000 each, Kishori Jhunjhunwala has given a total of Rs 50 lakh. Eight of these scholarships will be given to Mahila Mahavidyalaya students who qualify based on merit and financial need. Sanskrit Vidya Dharma Vijnana Sankaya (Faculty of Sanskrit Vidya Dharma Vigyan) students of Acharya will get two scholarships.

Sh. Dhinanath Jhunjhunwala, the owner of Jhunjhunwala Oil Mills Ltd., graduated from the university in 1954 with a degree in industrial engineering. He is the husband of Mrs. Jhunjhunwala.
