In the 2021 session, the exam was held in 158 test cities. CAT 2022 is also expected to be held in the same exam centers.
- While filling CAT Application Form, you will get the opportunity to select up to 6 exam centers.
- CAT test center allotted to the candidates will depend on the city of their preference filled in the application form.
- CAT exam centers once allotted cannot be changed under any circumstances.

Q: What is the CAT 2022 exam date?
A: CAT 2022 exam is expected to be conducted on November 27. The official announcement of the exam date will be made by IIMCAT in July 2022.
Q: Which IIM will conduct CAT 2022 exam?
A: One of the top five IIMs conducts CAT exam. IIM Ahmedabad conducted CAT 2021. The CAT 2022 conducting institute will be announced in May 2022.
Q: What is the syllabus of CAT exam?
A: The CAT syllabus includes all the topics of Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude.
Q: What is the CAT exam pattern?
A: The CAT question paper has three sections – VARC, DILR and QA. Total time duration is two hours sectional time limit is 40 minutes. VARC has 24 questions, DILR has 20 questions and QA has 22 questions. The format of questions is MCQ and non-MCQ.
Q: What is the CAT application fees?
A: CAT application fees for General and NC-OBC category candidates is INR 2,200. For SC/ST/PwD category candidates, the fees is INR 1,100.
Q: Who can apply for CAT exam?
A: Any MBA aspirant who has completed graduation or equivalent or is in the final year of bachelor’s degree programme can apply for CAT. The minimum score requirement is 50 per cent aggregate for General category candidates and 45 per cent for Reserved category candidates.
Q: When will CAT 2022 application process begin?
A: CAT 2022 application process will begin in the first week of August 2022. The official notification for the exam will be released in the last week of July 2022.
Q: How many B-schools accept CAT score for admission?
A: Over 1,200 MBA colleges in India accept CAT score for admission. Some of the top B-schools apart from IIMs, which accept CAT score include FMS-DU, MDI, SPJIMR, IIT-DoMS, NITIE, GLIM, GIM-Goa, LIBA, Amity, JIMS, etc.
Q: I am pursuing BA. Can I appear for CAT?
A: Candidates from any stream of education can appear for CAT. The minimum eligibility criteria for CAT is graduation or equivalent degree in any stream.
Q: I am pursuing graduation from correspondence. Can I apply for CAT 2022?
A: Yes, you can apply for CAT 2022 if you are in the final year of graduation and have an aggregate of 50 per cent and above in first two years (45 per cent for reserved category candidates).
Q: What is a good CAT score for admission to IIMs?
A: For admission to IIMs, one must score about 99 percentile in CAT (General category). However, one also needs to have a good academic record and must perform well in the Personal Interview round.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION -Only candidates who have cleared JEE Mains are only eligible to sit for JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced comprises of a written examination and counselling based on the written examination results
- Number of Papers: JEE Advanced 2017 will be conducted as two exams : Paper 1 and Paper 2 each of three hours duration. Both the papers are compulsory.
- Questions Type: The question papers consist of objective type (multiple choice and numerical answer type) questions designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.
- Sections/Subjects: Each question paper consists of three separate sections, viz., Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

ANSWER SHEET INSTRUCTIONS - Optical Response Sheet (ORS) -The answer sheet of each paper of JEE (Advanced) is a machine‐readable ORS. Please note the following key points about ORS sheets.
- The ORS has two pages with the same lay‐out. The first page of the ORS is machine readable. It is designed so as to leave impressions of the responses on the second page.
- Candidates should not separate or disturb the alignment of the two pages of the ORS at any stage and under any circumstance.
- The answers to all the questions should be marked on the first page of the ORS by darkening the appropriate bubble or bubbles (as per the instructions given in the question paper.
- Candidates should use BLACK BALL POINT pen for darkening the bubbles.
- Candidates should apply adequate pressure to ensure that a proper impression is made on the second page of the ORS. Other instructions for darkening the bubbles will be printed on the question paper and candidates must strictly adhere to these instructions.
- The second page of the ORS will be handed over to the candidates by the invigilator at the end of the examination.
- The question paper will be in either English or Hindi. Candidates must exercise the choice of question paper language while registering for JEE (Advanced) . Change of question paper language will NOT be entertained after the registration.
- Candidates using the services of a scribe will get one hour compensatory time.
