All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna (AIIMS Patna), previously Jaya Prakash Narayan All India Institute of Medical Sciences (JPNAIIMS), is a medical college and medical research public institute located in Phulwari Sharif, Patna, Bihar, India. It is one of the Institutes of National Importance in India. It started operating on 25 September 2012 after a series of observations by Patna High Court. The institute operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Its foundation was laid by Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, on 3 January 2004, during his tenure as vice-president. As of 2018, it became fully functional.
AIIMS Patna is the vision of the Hon’ble ex-Prime minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee who decided to give to the nation six regional
AIIMS with the mandate to provide the most modern healthcare to the last man in the queue at affordable cost.
AIIMS Patna was created by the ordinance dated 16th July, 2012 and then the Act (Amendment), 2012 on 2nd July, 2013.
Admissions
The college offers MBBS and B.Sc Nursing courses at the undergraduate level, M.D and M.S courses at the postgraduate level with 20 different specializations.
Admission to MBBS programme is done on the basis of NEET UG Scores followed by counseling conducted by NTA.
Admission to MD & MS programmes is done on the basis of AIIMS PG and counselling by AIIMS Delhi.
The selection of candidates B.Sc Nursing will be made on a 2-stage performance evaluation. The first stage is the written test followed by personal interviews in the second stage, On the basis of the merit list based on the marks secured in Stage-I, candidates three times the number of seats will be invited for Personal Assessment by a Selection Committee.
To apply for MBBS, the candidates must register for NEET UG exams, to apply for PG and Nursing Courses, the candidate’s must register via the official website of AIIMS.
